Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 and half teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 and half cups hot water at 110°F or 43°C
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 and half cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the sauce:
- 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil Salt and pepper to taste
For the Topping:
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup for toppings of your choice (mushrooms, pepperoni olives, vegetables etc.)
Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Olive oil (for brushing the crust)
Instructions:
1. Making Dough:
Get flour and salt pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil in large bowl. Mix the mixture until a dough begins to form. and knead for about 5-10 min until smooth Lightly oil in clean bowl, place the dough inside and cover with a towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a hot place for 1 to 1.5 hrs, or until it doubles in size.
2. Making Sauce:
In a saucepan, warm olive oil over normal heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 min until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. mix combine, and let it simmer for 10-15 min to thicken. Set aside to cool.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C.
Punch down the dough to release the air and divide it into 2 equal portions if you want to make 2 smaller pizzas, or leave it as one for a large pizza.
Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a circle or rectangle, depending on your preference and your pan shape.
put the rolled-out dough on to greased baking sheet.
Spread light layer of pizza sauce on the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
Sprinkle a generous quantity of shredded mozzarella cheese on top, then add your favorite toppings.
4. Bake:
Bake the pizza for 10-15 minutes (depending on the thickness of the dough) until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
